The 21 November 2009 sees another big opportunity for Namibia to be put in the spotlight in 120 countries around the world. The first FIM Freestyle Moto-Cross World Championships is coming to Windhoek!

The "Night of the Jumps" Series is the world’s largest international Freestyle Moto-Cross series. Over 500.000 visitors attended during the last years. Make no mistake about it Freestyle Moto-cross riding is a tough gig. Apart from the obvious danger in riding a 250lb motorcycle off 40-ft ramps and floating up to 80 feet in the air while hanging precariously off the machine, the stunts and tricks take a long time to master and require an enormous level of skill.

However, professional freestylers revel in the opportunity to showcase their talents as well as being able to indulge in their greatest passion, riding motorcycles. Professional Freestyle Moto-Cross riders continually strive to push the limits of their machines and physical ability, aiming to go bigger and higher with each event while coming up with spectacular new tricks never before attempted.

Witness the exiting battle of the world’s top freestylers competing for the World Championship title!

Namibians will be in for a once in a lifetime opportunity to see this World Championship in our country as this show will not happen so quick if at all again in Namibia. Namibia will be the second last stop of the tour before this show will move for the finals in Brazil.

A pit party will be in place before the event where the spectators can meet the riders, obtain autographs and see their bikes. There will also be another autograph session after the event so everybody will have a chance to get a signature of their most favourite rider or maybe even all of them.

The contest will start with the qualifying rounds, where all the riders will be battling it out in seven jumps, each 90 seconds, giving their best to qualify for the finals. Only the best six riders advance to the finals.

After the qualifying you will witness the ‘Kalahari Sands Hotel & Casino Whip’ and the ‘Air Namibia Highest Air’ contest before the top riders will battle it out in the finals.

Thirteen of the world’s best FMX riders will be challenging each other on a course designed by the IFMXF experts, doing Whips, Cliffhangers, Tsunamis, Deathbodies and many more and of course the crowd favourite, the Backflip. But not your ‘normal’ Backflip - they do combinations of the other tricks while doing the Back Flip!

This renowned event will take place against a beautiful African backdrop at the Tony Rust Race Track. Gates will open at 14h00. Bring an umbrella, chair or camping blanket and join in on the fun! We are doing this the real African way.

Tickets are on sale for N$ 180 (outside the track) and N$ 250 (in the oval track) at the following outlets, the Pulse in Ludwigsdorf, the Biltong Shop in Maerua Mall, at the Radiowave station and at the above mentioned Shell Service Stations.
